Irish Day

This is me updating you on how my party planning paid off. We're talking about party numero uno mentioned here. Here's the big shocker: the pictures are somewhat lacking. The day got started up pretty quick and people were here before I could snap pictures. And then I had some drinks...and the day went even quicker. And then I went out (for the first time basically since before I was pregnant, almost 2 years ago)...so it's pretty safe to say that it was a successful party, if for no one else but myself. The pictures I did manage to get? They are the leftovers the next day. M, the Goose and me were just having a lazy day, letting the remnants of a good time sit around until the sun went down.

didn't manage to make a burlap banner, so scrapbook paper banner was made in it's place

nice and clean, huh?

irish coffee anyone?

And we actually managed to take the Goose out to enjoy some of the Irish Day fun in our town. They shut down the main street in part of our town and the streets are lined with carnival games and food stands and boutiques. It was short lived because we had guests still partying at our house, but it was fun nonetheless. My parents even got in on the fun.

And then because the Goose shares a birthday with M's best friend's daughter, and we both would be celebrating the following week seperately, we had a little cake for the two of them.

And that about sums it up. It was a great day. I didn't get to everything I had wanted to do, but I was pleased overall. Here's a run down of everything I had wanted to do, and actually managed to get done...

Blarney Stone Cookies     via
  • If you look to the second pic in this post, you'll see my cookies. I honestly wasn't expecting them to be "tasty", but was making them more for the theme of the day. Turns out, they're very good. The chocolate on the bottom makes the whole cookie. Mine were a little overcooked, but overall, they were a hit.

Car Bomb Cake Balls      via
  • I didn't get to these, but Car Bombs were done that night...elsewhere.

Green Layer Cake      via
  • I opted for cupcakes instead of a cake. The pic is above. I made way too many, so there were a lot of leftovers. But they were great.

Green Poms       via
  • I made one of these. It was a major fail. I don't know if I'm just incapable of understanding the concept, or if my tissue paper wasn't big enough. Either way, the one okay looking pom I made was attached by the cat overnight, so no poms. Luckily I had the St. Patty's tissue fan's that you saw in the pics above.

Lentils        via
  • Yeeaah. These are actually split peas. Don't mind my stupidity. I used them. They were pretty. Thatisall.

DIY Shamrock Chips        via
  • I COULD NOT find spinach wraps ANYWHERE. I checked my local supermarket, local health food stores, and even the super Whole Foods by my job in the city. Nothing. I had the cookie cutters and dip ready to go. I almost made them with regular tortillas, but I knew the green color sealed the deal, so I skipped it. Insert sad face.
Green Cupcake liners      via
  • Bought them, they were perfect! You might catch them in some of the pics, but they're hard to see.

Shamrock Confetti       via
  • Also bought some of these (cuz I'm lazy and didn't feel like making them myself) and they were also perfect.

via
  • As mentioned above, I didn't get to make these, but I did manage to make a scrapbook paper banner. Which I thought ended up looking more festive. I still love this, though.

And that was our Irish Day. Actually, mine ended with a ride out on this
A perk of living in a beach town...riding out to the bars is commonpractice....and awesome.

Hope to report back soon on party numero Dos - The Goose's birthday!!!
